How to Sanitize Your Mercedes-Benz of Coronavirus

If you are an essential employee in Covina or you need to make a trip to the store for essential items, you will need to know how to sanitize your Mercedes-Benz for Coronavirus. It’s an essential part of Coronavirus preventative measures and can help keep yourself, your passengers, and your community safe and healthy. Here, Mercedes-Benz of West Covina provides some helpful tips for how to sanitize your car to help stop the spread of infectious diseases like Coronavirus.

Personal Health Practices to Keep You and Your Passengers Safe

Helping to stop Coronavirus and other infectious diseases from spreading when you make a trip from La Puenta to Glendora starts with adopting good personal health practices. Check out these tips to help protect yourself when you need to venture out:

  • In your bag or in your pocket, carry a mini bottle of hand sanitizer you can use to sanitize your hands before touching your car keys or opening your car doors after being in a store or handling a gas pump.
  • Once you’ve returned home, remember to wash your hands immediately.

Tip: Do you have a large pump bottle of hand sanitizer sitting inside your car right now? You may want to rethink it – when left out in extreme heat, the sanitizer is prone to explode all over your car, leaving a mess for you to clean up.

What Cleaners Are Safe for My Car?

Coronavirus preventative measures call for sanitizing your car, but it’s important to note that while products containing bleach or hydrogen peroxide are great for killing bacteria, they’re not safe to use inside your car as they can cause discoloration and other unwelcome damage. Instead, stick with alcohol-based disinfecting wipes for hard-touch surfaces like door handles, control buttons, cupholders, etc.

As for soft surfaces like your seat upholstery, a mixture of a mild, fragrance-free soap diluted with warm water is safe to use. Dip a clean microfiber cloth in the mixture, then wring it out so it’s damp, but not soaking. You can use this to wipe down your seats and any other surfaces that are lined with cloth or leather.

Note: In addition to avoiding products with bleach or hydrogen peroxide, you should also steer clear of anything with ammonia, which is usually found in glass cleaner.

Deep Cleaning Your Vehicle

With your cleaning materials in hand, it’s time to start sanitizing your car. You can get started by wiping down your seats with a cloth and your mild soap solution. Next, you’ll want to spend the most time taking care of high-touch areas. Using your disinfecting wipes, thoroughly clean the following spots:

  • Steering wheel
  • Control buttons for volume, air conditioning, etc.
  • Paddle shift levers
  • Gear selector lever
  • Turn indicator stalks
  • Console armrests
  • Display screens
  • Cupholders
  • Cubbyholes
  • Air conditioner vents
  • Door handles
